Audrey Hepburn was and always will be known as one of Hollywood's most iconic starlets starring in cult classics such as My Fair Lady, Sabrina, Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany's (my favorite film of all time), and so many more. Not only was she graceful, elegant, and sophisticated, but she was also truly gorgeous, inside and out. Besides being one of Hollywood's starlets, she was also an ambassador for UNICEF and true advocate for the less fortunate. On top of that, Hepburn had a certain style that was timeless, effortless, and how shall I put this? Trés Chic, of Course! Keep on reading to see some of Audrey's most iconic looks!
In the photo above, Hepburn delicately poses for the camera, looking absolutely elegant, in white elbow-length gloves and a strapless dress with an intricate floral pattern from Hubert de Givenchy, who has also designed many of Hepburn's costumes which you will later see. Hepburn wore this dress for the promotion of the hit film, Funny Face.
In this photo, we have Hepburn donning an absolutely stunning white and gold embroidered ball gown from Givenchy, as well as another pair of white elbow-length gloves and black flats to finish off the look. Besides the gown, can we just take a moment to appreciate those poodles?
The iconic black dress with the black elbow-length gloves seen in Breakfast at Tiffany's is known as one of the most iconic looks in Hollywood History and is also viewed as Hepburn's trademark. Hepburn donning Givenchy's black floor-length gown while strolling along fifth avenue's Tiffany's with her coffee and pastry in hand is what really established the trend we all know today as the "LBD" or "Little Black Dress".
Besides her LBD in Breakfast at Tiffany's, one of Hepburn's many iconic looks was her all black attire in the hit film Funny Face. What makes this look so intriguing is the fact that although it is so effortless, Hepburn seems to flawlessly pull it together and makes it look timeless and sleek.
The most fascinating thing about Hepburn's wardrobe to me is the fact that she has the ability to pull off two very different sides. In a majority of Hepburn's films, she is portrayed through her wardrobe, as innocent and even pure at times. However, in the photo above, Hepburn is also successful when it also comes to donning a sultry noir lace mask and dress designed by the one and only, Hubert de Givenchy for the film How to Steal a Million.
As this piece comes to an end, the only thing I can really say as not only a fashion enthusiast, but also as an Audrey devotee, is that Hepburn truly had a style like no other. Not only through her wardrobe, but through her acts of pure kindness and generosity as well, the world was and is able to still see what true class, elegance, and heart Hepburn had. Even to this day, Hepburn still is and always will be a massive inspiration to millions around the globe, including myself.
